Club Training

Clubs within the Centre perform their own club training, open to all age groups, on Wednesday nights.

Cromer, Manly and Peninsula clubs have a combined club training open to all age groups of these clubs on Wednesday evenings. This is held in the centre oval at the Academy of Sport, Narrabeen between 5:30pm and 7:00pm. Athletes are asked to wear club colours or bring their Registration bib so as not to be charged gate entry. The assistance of parents is appreciated on these training nights.

Wakehurst train 5-7:30pm at Lionel Watts oval.

Seaforth train 6-7:30pm at Seaforth Oval.

Please refer to the Wakehurst and Seaforth club websites for dates and times of their club training.

Centre Training

MWLAC is pleased to be able to offer its U9 and older members the opportunity to receive some Technical Training during the athletics season. This is not a high performance program, but an opportunity we provide for athletes who are keen to learn the basic technical skills in specific events.

Middle distance and race walk training can be attended on any Technical Training night without registering.

For other events, training occurs in four week blocks (athletes focus on the same event for four weeks) and group sizes are limited to ensure athletes receive enough attention from their Coach to be able to learn.  To register, all members are sent an email each month with a link to a form to register athletes’ preferences.

Preference will be given to athletes who show their commitment by turning up reliably, who do their best to listen to their coaches and learn, and who support the principle of fairness in sharing the training opportunities. Those who register but don’t receive a spot will be put on the waitlist in case there is a cancellation due to injury, illness or emergency. Those who haven’t yet had a training spot during the current season will also receive preference.

In the case of bad weather, the MWLAC Facebook Page is updated on Monday afternoons to confirm whether training will proceed.
